thread not closed with postStagingAndCleanup()

Description
When I download files results I start a thread and in this thread
icall the function postStagingAndCleanup (). At the end of
download the thread remains up(ps uh <pid> p | wc-l, increases
regularly until memory out) When i disable the function in the thread function
the thread terminad normaly and the number of threads
open is approximately constant.
